Our Mission

Seeking care is often complicated, involving long wait times to see a doctor and short visits, making it difficult to feel seen and heard by providers. Our mission is to provide compassionate care without the headache. Our care team, led by Dr. Eric Harker, is a text away, removing the barriers to talking with your doctor. Our small operation allows us to see patients sooner and take the time to meaningfully engage during each appointment.

Care First

We follow a care-first policy. In accordance with “do no harm”, we aim to prioritize your care needs above all else. The healthcare system is complex, and no patient should suffer due to insurance, trouble finding specalists or other care hurdles. We will exhaust our creative problem-solving to meet your needs. We will work with you to meet your needs, medical or otherwise, so you can truly feel your best.

Home Visits

Should you or a loved one feel unable to visit our clinic or otherwise confined to the home, we provide home visits. Dr. Harker will come to your home with essential supplies and treat you in the comfort of your own home. This does not cost extra, and we will bill your insurance as normal. To request this service, reach out through any of the ways of contacting us. We will be in touch to schedule an appointment, likely outside of regular hours. Your comfort, safety, and health are important to us. We are honored to offer this service, but we are restricted to serving patients in the greater Lyons area.

Our approach

Integrative Medicine

Wellness and health are much more than just doctors' appointments and medications. We depend on our environment and community to support good health. We aim to be a part of the Lyons community and a friendly face you trust. Part of this is our openness and willingness to learn new things. While Dr. Harker does not have any credentials in any Integrative or Functional medicine modalities, we are eager and able to collaborate with other providers who provide functional medicine services and to support our patients’ personal preferences. We also acknowledge that so much more goes into your health than what is taught in medical school. We would love to hear how you are taking care of yourself using homeopathy, acupuncture, plants, food, and all other modalities. Judgment has no place in our clinic; we will do the best we can with our skills and listen openly to what works best for you.

Curiosity

We are all our own experts in our health. This strength can be tuned out by dismissive providers and the speed of modern medicine. During each intake appointment, I approach your health journey with curiosity and patience. Health struggles can be traumatizing, emotional, and complex. The reality is that most patients need time to communicate their needs in appointments, something that is not always given in traditional visits, with patients rushed out quickly. You deserve empathy and that is something we strive to provide in our clinic.

Visit Reasons

Primary Care sees a little bit of everything. Most issues can often be addressed in the office, and our office is happy to provide referrals for issues outside our scope. Office visits are appropriate not only for addressing symptoms of illness, but for preventing symptoms in the first place and for promoting health and well-being. Preventative medicine starts before you start feeling sick.

Visit reasons:

  • Preventive visits or annual check-ups.

  • Sick note for missing work.

  • Medicare visit.

  • Chronic pain.

  • Anxiety, depression, or excess worrying that interferes with daily life.

  • Sickness or presence of symptoms.

  • Weight management and lifestyle medicine.

Meet the doctor

Hi, I’m Eric Harker, md

I have 20 years of experience providing primary care internal medicine for some of the leading health systems in the country. I’ve learned what works well and what to avoid, and now I’m proud to share the opening of my own practice, Human Touch Health. I trained at top-ranked programs: Duke Medical School (ranked 3rd nationally), UNC School of Public Health (ranked 2nd nationally), and primary care internal medicine residency at CU(Ranked 8th nationally). While my credentials are strong, my greatest strengths are compassion, patience, humility, curiosity, and deep listening, which are qualities that you don't learn in school. I learned those from my grandma. I am passionate about preventing illness through healthy living, and managing chronic illness as gently as possible. My areas of expertise include healthy living (lifestyle medicine), medical and non-medical weight loss, management of sleep apnea, hypertension, heart disease and heart failure, asthma, COPD, diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue, and chronic illness management.
