No two cases or patients are the same, so every patient interaction will be different. The scale of our clinic allows us to spend time with every patient and create personalized treatment plans that make patients feel seen and heard. Providing high quality is our goal.
Our vision is to create a healthier and happier Lyons. The impact of community has been shown to positively affect public health, and we hope to draw on the strong community here to create health and wellness. High quality, empathic care makes practicing medicine a better experience, and we hope our approach makes being a patient better as well. We are truly lucky to be part of the Lyons and Colorado community.
Personalized primary care
Doctor Harker has worked in primary care for over 20 years. Though his experiences at various clinics including Kaiser and smaller clinics such as Iora (now One Medical), he began to rethink the care model. Getting care can be frustrating for a number of reasons, and providing care can be challenging in the same ways. Some things that often don’t work in clinical settings are:
Haggling with insurance.
Long wait times to see your doctor.
Short appointment times that don’t allow for patients to fully explain their conditions and get the help they need.
Dismissive care that feels invalidating and impersonal.
Lack of connection between patients and doctors, leading to patients feeling unseen, their problems significant.
These frustrations are felt on the provider side as well. The greatest parts of practicing medicine are helping patients, and being able to connect with each patient to best understand their personal needs; not dealing with administrative overhead. Human Touch Health was created to combat these common frustrations. Our goal is not linked to larger financial stakeholders who push for shorter appointment times, but to the health and happiness of the Lyons community. Creating a better clinical environment we believe helps our clinical staff, and helps our patients. We strive to be different by:
Setting longer appointment times. Initial appointments are set at 60 minutes and follow-ups are set at 30 minutes. These times are always flexible and allow for our clinical team to best understand the unique health of every patient.
Putting care and empathy first. Adverse clinical treatment is an unfortunate and widespread product of the medical system. Two thirds of Americans report negative clinical treatment, something we aim to combat by addressing all patients with empathy and understanding.
Friendly and comprehensible coordination. One of the challenges in larger clinics is struggling to talk to a doctor or care coordinator. Our practice is small, and we have no automated phone services. The doctor or scheduling manager is only a call away.
